Moving to HawaiʻiStatewideChecked Oct. 29, 2026

Matson charges $1,790 to ship a car from Long Beach or Oakland to Honolulu and $2,600 to Hilo, Kahului or Nāwiliwili (rates effective June 7, 2026). Matson has suspended new bookings for electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles, so EV owners need another carrier such as Pasha or should sell and buy here.

  • Rates (Matson, effective June 7, 2026): Long Beach or Oakland to Honolulu $1,790; to Hilo, Kahului or Nāwiliwili $2,600. Honolulu back to the West Coast $1,020.
  • Matson has suspended acceptance of new and used electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles. Ask Pasha Hawaiʻi or a broker about EVs.
  • Size limits apply (no RVs or vehicles with cooking or sleeping setups). Pay before drop-off; active-duty military get $100 off.
  • Shipping often runs about the same as selling and buying here, especially for older cars; compare before you book.
  • After it arrives, you have 30 days to register it or get an out-of-state permit (see the car registration entry).
