On Maui, try the laulau plate at Da Kitchen in Kīhei, Aloha Mixed Plate in Lāhainā (reopened after the fire), and Sam Sato's in Wailuku for Maui's famous dry mein noodles. For a full traditional spread with poi, the Old Lāhainā Lūʻau reopened at its original spot in March 2024.

  • Da Kitchen: 1215 S. Kīhei Rd., Kīhei; laulau plate and mixed plates are local favorites.
  • Aloha Mixed Plate: Lāhainā; listed as open in 2026 recovery updates.
  • Sam Sato's: Wailuku; known for dry mein, a Maui-style saimin without the soup.
  • Old Lāhainā Lūʻau: 1251 Front St.; reopened March 12, 2024; traditional family-style feast with poi (about $230 adults).
  • Mama's Fish House (Pāʻia): upscale, with poi and taro sides.
  • Grab-and-go: local poi is often sold in grocery and liquor store coolers (for example Tamura's in Kīhei).
  • Hours change and many small spots sell out or close early; call or check online before you go.
