Parasailing in Hawaiʻi (seasonal on Maui)

Tours & activitiesStatewideChecked Oct. 29, 2026

Parasailing runs year-round off Honolulu (from Kewalo Basin and nearby harbors) and in Kona. On Maui it's seasonal: state law bans parasailing off West and South Maui from Dec. 15 to May 15 to protect humpback whales. Most operators let kids 5 and up fly, often tandem.

  • Oʻahu: boats leave Kewalo Basin and nearby slips on Ala Moana Blvd.; arrive 30 minutes early. Typical flights 5 to 8 minutes on 800 to 1,000 feet of line.
  • Maui: allowed only May 16 to Dec. 14 in West and South Maui waters (Hawaiʻi law, whale protection). Kāʻanapali departures in season.
  • Hawaiʻi Island: Kona flights run year-round.
  • Weight rules: solo fliers often need about 160 lb minimum; tandem or triple flights have a combined maximum.
  • Pregnant guests and people with recent injuries usually can't fly.
  • Line length isn't the same as height; flights depend on wind and sea conditions.
  • Prices are approximate as listed in 2026 and change often; confirm and book directly with the operator.
