Molokini Crater snorkel trips (Maui)

Tours & activitiesMauiChecked Oct. 29, 2026

Molokini is a sunken volcanic crater about three miles off South Maui and a protected Marine Life Conservation District with clear water and lots of reef fish. You can only get there by boat; tours leave from Māʻalaea Harbor or by beach-loading boats in South Maui (Kīhei, Wailea), and often add a second stop at Turtle Town.

  • Departures: Māʻalaea Harbor (handy from West and Central Maui) or South Maui beach-loading boats (handy from Kīhei and Wailea).
  • Protected area: no fishing or taking marine life, no feeding fish; boats use day-use moorings.
  • Mornings are usually calmer; trips can be rerouted or canceled for wind and swell.
  • Many tours include gear, breakfast and lunch; compare total time in the water, not just trip length.
  • Use mineral, reef-safe sunscreen (required by Maui County).
  • Don't touch coral or turtles; stay 10 feet from honu.
  • Prices are approximate as listed in 2026 and change often; confirm and book directly with the operator.
