Waikīkī to Nānākuli, Waiʻanae and Mākaha (West Side)
Take H-1 West all the way to its end in Kapolei, where it becomes Farrington Highway (Route 93). Stay on Farrington Highway along the coast through Nānākuli, Māʻili, Waiʻanae and Mākaha.
- From Waikīkī, get on H-1 West (via Kapahulu Avenue or McCully Street on-ramps).
- Stay on H-1 West past the H-2 split and Kapolei. The freeway ends and continues as Farrington Highway (Route 93).
- Farrington Highway runs along the coast: Nānākuli, then Māʻili, Waiʻanae and Mākaha.
- Farrington Highway is the main road on this coast, so a crash or roadwork can back it up. Check traffic before you go.
- Weekday afternoons are slowest heading west. H-1 West has an HOV lane (2 or more people) 3 to 7 p.m., and Farrington Highway has a westbound contraflow lane 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. depending on traffic.
- Plan on roughly an hour or more from Waikīkī, longer at rush hour.
