On Hawaiʻi Island, Kailua-Kona's Aliʻi Drive has a lively food truck scene, Waimea has several favorites, and Island Style Grindz rotates between Waimea, Hāwī, Kona and Hilo. Look for huli chicken stands in Kealakekua and Waimea too.

  • Kailua-Kona: the Aliʻi Drive food truck scene, Shaka Tacoz, Pine Tree Café, Da Braddahz Grindz.
  • Waimea: Red Barn, GJ's Huli Chicken, On Top of Mauna Kea, Big Island Brewhaus Kitchen; Manuela Malasada for malasadas.
  • Island Style Grindz: rotates among Waimea, Hāwī, Kona and Hilo, usually midweek; known for fish plates like miso butterfish. Lines are long.
  • South Kona: Randy's Huli Chicken and Ribs (Kealakekua), Super J's (Captain Cook).
  • Volcano: Tuk Tuk Thai. Honokaʻa: Waipiʻo Good Eats. Nāʻālehu: Aloha Mix. Pāhoa: Panchos Tacos.
  • Hours and parking spots change often, and trucks can close early when they sell out. Check the truck's Instagram, Facebook or Google listing the day you go.
