A huge December marathon that starts at 5 a.m. in Honolulu. The 2026 race is Sunday, Dec. 13, with a 10K the same morning and the Kalākaua Merrie Mile on Dec. 12. Expect early-morning road closures along the course through Waikīkī, Diamond Head and East Honolulu.

  • 2026 JAL Honolulu Marathon: Sunday, Dec. 13, 5 a.m. start. Start to Park 10K the same morning.
  • Kalākaua Merrie Mile: Saturday, Dec. 12, 7 a.m.
  • Entries are final, with no refunds or transfers.
  • Roads along the course (Ala Moana, Waikīkī, Diamond Head, Kalanianaʻole Highway toward Hawaiʻi Kai) close early that morning. Plan drives around it.
  • Very popular with visitors from Japan.
