Maui day trip: the Road to Hāna
The famous winding drive along Maui's rainforest coast: start early from Paʻia, stop at the Garden of Eden Arboretum, the Keʻanae Peninsula for Aunty Sandy's banana bread, Halfway to Hāna at mile 17, and Waiʻānapanapa's black-sand beach (reservation required), then Hāna town. About 52 miles from Kahului with hundreds of curves and one-lane bridges; plan a full day and return the way you came.
