For lower-cost golf on Maui: Waiehu Golf Course, the County's own course near Wailuku with an oceanfront front nine (one of the state's oldest 18-hole courses); The Dunes at Maui Lani, a links-style public course in Kahului; and Pukalani Country Club, Upcountry at about 1,100 feet.

• Waiehu Golf Course (County of Maui): early-1930s course; front nine runs along the ocean. Among Maui's cheapest rounds; visitor rates on the County site.
• The Dunes at Maui Lani (Kahului): links-style on old sand dunes; priced below resort courses.
• Pukalani Country Club (Upcountry): cooler air and valley views at about 1,100 feet.
• All are close to Kahului Airport, handy for arrival or departure days.
• Golf rates change often and add Hawaiʻi tax; confirm on the course's website before you book.
